Hydra Rolls Out Campaign Tracking Software

Beverly Hills-based Hydra, which operates an online, cost-per-acquisition (CPA) advertising network, said today that it has officially debuted its new campaign tracking software for its advertisers. The firm said the new software, HN 2.0, will offer its advertisers increased compliance and fraud protection, better analytics, and a more powerful user interface. Hydra's HN 2.0 product has been in beta for the last three weeks. The new software is a part of the firm's push to increase the quality of leads in its network, as it looks to move up in the CPA market. Hydra had rolled out the software in February to some early customers, with features such as cookie-less and pixel-tracking and other techniques to remove bot-generated traffic and reduce fraud in its network.

Vital Software to Hackers

Flawed Security Exposes Vital Software to Hackers

McAfee, a leading maker of Internet security software, warned this week that software systems used by many companies to store and manage their intellectual property are being actively targeted by hackers and are in need of significantly increased security focus.

McAfee’s assessment follows its work with several companies to help them recover from a wave of attacks last year — dubbed “Operation Aurora” — that affected the computer networks of Google and more than 30 other companies, many in Silicon Valley. Google, which revealed the attacks in January, said they originated in China and resulted in theft of its intellectual property as well as targeted assaults on the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists.

In some of the hacks, attackers penetrated elaborate computer-security systems and obtained corporate data and software source code. As The New York Times reported in January, source code — the programming instructions underlying computer software — is the most valuable asset of most technology companies.

McAfee’s chief technology officer, George Kurtz, said the security company found that a “common element” in the attacks it investigated was the unauthorized access of systems that act as corporate repositories of software source code and other digital intellectual property, known as software configuration management systems.

These systems, in the case of source code, allow engineers to pull sections of code out, work on them on their workstations and then return the code to its place.

Lojack For Laptops Standard - 3 Year

We got our laptop back

When the laptop was stolen (it was in a backpack in an unlocked car) we contacted Lojack. (Keeping the box is helpful to remind yourself that you have Lojack on the laptop, but all the info is on the website.) They told us to file a police report and to give them the report number. We did. We could contact Lojack for status reports. They put us in touch with the LAPD detective, who called us when he got a search warrant and then called to say he had the laptop. It took four weeks. We only got back the laptop, not the backpack with the peripherals and other stuff, but we were very happy to get the laptop back. I recommend Lojack for Laptops.
